N.A.G. HITS THE HEADLINES
If you thought you had been hearing a lot about the National Association of Goldsmiths of late, that is because the N.A.G. has had a massive 30 articles written about it in the external press in the last 6 months, with 13 Association related articles appearing in June alone.
Although the majority of articles have been reserved for the trade press, the N.A.G. has made progress on both a national and local level too. Michael Hoare, the Association’s CEO has been interviewed for both Bloomberg news and Agent France Presse, while recent JET course graduates and IRV Fellows have appeared in local newspapers such as The Fife and Kinross Extra and East Grinstead Courier and Observer.
The credit for this rise in profile has been given to the Association's new communications group, which is made up of staff from N.A.G. HQ, as well as the large number of initiatives and events the N.A.G. has put into place in recent months.
"These figures show what we have always known, that the N.A.G. provides a unique and comprehensive service to the retail jewellery industry" said Michael Hoare. "We are now making sure that everyone knows about it."
To this end the N.A.G. is asking members to help by providing local contacts, press clippings and event details, as well as to help create local publicity out of N.A.G. news.
"It's really quite simple: local press want local stories. Members know their own areas and what the important issues are, so are the best people to promote the N.A.G. locally", added Michael. "The best part is by promoting the N.A.G. members will end up promoting themselves."
If you have a story, email pressenquiries@jewellers-online.org or for all the latest news and information go to www.jewellers-online.org.
