 Affiliate Membership > Affiliate Membership Explained

Critieria



The Affiliate Membership category covers retailers who do not meet the criteria of the Ordinary Membership. There is a list of Affiliate Status Categories to assist in deciding if this is the category for you. An Affiliate Member is a non-voting member and is not able to sponsor any future N.A.G. membership applications. All applicants must agree to the Association's Code of Practice which must be signed and returned as part of the application process.


Affilated Status Categories

  1. Irish:
    being persons who carry on bona fide retail jewellery businesses in the Republic of Ireland and who are not Members of the Association.
  2. European Union (formerly Community):
    being persons who carry on bona fide retail jewellery businesses in the European Union outside the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
  3. Non-European Union (formerly Community):
    being persons who carry on bona fide jewellery businesses outside the European Union.
  4. Start-Up:
    being persons who are purchasing or setting up bona fide retail jewellery businesses, only allowed for a maximum period of two years. NB Please complete an Ordinary Member form for this category.
  5. Craft:
    being persons who carry on a bona fide craft goldsmith and/or silversmith businesses which mainly work on a commission basis.
  6. Antique Dealers:
    being persons who have permanent location and are specialist dealers in antique jewellery and/or silver and/or timepieces.
  7. Department Stores:
    being businesses who have a dedicated area which operates as a bona fide retailer of fine jewellery and/or watches.
  8. Supermarkets:
    being businesses who have a dedicated area which operates as a bone fide retailer of fine jewellery and/or watches.
  9. Mail Order:
    being businesses who have a dedicated section which operates as a bona fide retail supplier of fine jewellery and/or watches.
  10. Internet or other New Media Sellers:
    being businesses who have a dedicated area which operates as a bona fide retail supplier of fine jewellery and/or watches. NB This is only for internet sites belonging to a business which is already an N.A.G. member.
  11. Trophy/Engraving/Repair Centres:
    being businesses who offer a specialist service as engravers and/or as repairers of jewellery, silver or watches to the public.
  12. Gift shops:
    being persons who carry on a bona fide quality giftware businesses.
  13. Gallery:
    being businesses that have a permanent location, which operates as a bona fide retailer of fine jewellery and/or watches.
  14. Kiosk style shop:
    being businesses that have a permanent location within a quality shopping environment, which operates as a bona fide retailer of fine jewellery and/or watches.
  15. Pawnbrokers:
    being persons who carry on bona fide pawnbroking businesses and who are not Members of the Association.
